What is mixing panel?

A mixing panel, also known as a mixing console or audio mixer, is a device used to combine and control multiple audio signals. It is commonly used in music production, live sound reinforcement, broadcasting, and recording studios.

Mixing panels vary in size and complexity, ranging from compact units with just a few inputs and outputs to large-scale consoles with dozens of channels and advanced processing capabilities. They typically include features such as volume and tone controls, EQ, pan controls, faders, and routing options.

A mixing panel is essential for creating a balanced and cohesive mix of multiple audio sources, often including vocals, instruments, and various sound effects. It allows sound engineers to adjust the levels and characteristics of each individual sound to create a unified audio output.

Modern mixing panels also often come equipped with digital signal processing (DSP) effects, such as reverb, delay, compression, and more, providing further control and enhancement of the audio signal.
